Formulation: SOMATROPIN, injectable solution Therapeutic action/ Use: Somatropin is indicated for the treatment of children who suffer from growth disorders due to the following conditions: • Open epiphysis, in the treatment of short stature caused by somatotropin deficiency. • Turner’s syndrome. • Chronic kidney failure. • For short-stature children, who were born small in regards to their gestational age. • Prader Willi’s syndrome. In Adults: • Somatropin is administered to adults to confirm somatotropin deficit. • Also used for the treatment of wasting or cachexia associated with AIDS. • Somatropin is also used for the treatment of short-bowel syndrome; it aids the intestine to better absorb water, electrolytes and nutrients.
